Frequently Asked Questions

HOW ARE YOU ABLE TO OPEN FOR FAMILIES & FRIENDS BUT WERE NOT OPEN FOR SUMMER CAMPS?

Coming with your family or close friends allows you to stay together as a family unit and limit your interaction with others who are on site, like when you visit the zoo, rec center, church, or restaurant with your family and friends.
With summer camps, children from different families would have been in small groups together which did not allow for social distancing.
Social distancing is defined by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as “keeping a safe space between yourself and other people who are not from your household.” Many families also have close friends they feel comfortable being with, but continue to stay a safe distance apart when together. Family & Friend Adventures at Deer Run allows you to do this.

If we purchase a day pass, am I allowed to drop off my kids and come back later to pick them up?

No. Anyone on campus age 18 & under needs to be accompanied and supervised by a parent since the day passes are for “families” to enjoy having fun together. We do not have staff who are allowed to supervise kids.

What are the age limits on the Adventure Rec?

Most facilitated rec is for age 5 and up. However, paintball is recommended for age 9 & up. Zip Lines are a minimum of 60 pounds.

How late into the season is the lake going to be open?

At least until late September, but possibly into October depending on the temperature. The last couple years it has been warm into early October.

Will you have Day Passes available after the lake closes? If yes, what will be included?

Yes! Exciting new adventures for your family will be revealed as soon as details are confirmed.

Can I bring my own floats, kayaks, or paddle boards to the lake?

Absolutely! We have corcl boats and canoes, but you are welcome to bring other recreational water activities with you. No motorized recreational items please. Because Deer Run boats and canoes are tied to the docks, we recommend storing your personal items elsewhere.

How big and how deep is the lake?

The lake is approximately 3 acres and is approximately 18 feet deep at the deepest part by the dam in the swim area.

FUN FACT: Spring Valley Lake gets its name from the 5 natural springs that continually flow through the lake, so the water is continually being “renewed.” The scripture verse for the lake is Psalm 104:10, “You make springs flow in the valleys…”

What if it rains on the day I pre-purchased day passes?

If you would like to move to a different day due to weather, we can help you with that. However, most days the showers do not last long, and we have several rec options that are covered and can make a rainy day more FUN! Covered options include carpetball, human foosball, gaga ball, and Noah’s Park playground! Our Archery & BBs range is also covered.  Families can enjoy the lake activities in the rain as long as there is no lightning.

Can I reserve a pavilion in advance?

Yes, there are several pavilions available to rent for your family on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call our office at (615) 794-2918, email Contact@DeerRun.camp, or stop by the Camp Store to reserve a pavilion. Pavilion reservations are $150 for 2 hours.

What are the per night fees on my overnight reservation?

Both a 9.75% TN Sales Tax and a 4% County Occupancy Tax are added per night to overnight accommodations.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELATION POLICY FOR OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATIONS FOR FAMILIES?

Cancelations for overnight accommodations can be made up to 7 days in advance of your arrival date by emailing Contact@DeerRun.camp.

Is coffee provided in the lodging facilities for overnight stays?

Coffee is provided at The Lodge. There is a coffee pot in each Lakeview Cabin and at Eagles Nest. Specialty coffees are also available at The Creekside Eatery!

Are the rec and lake open hours the same as day passes when you book for overnight?

Families who stay overnight enjoy extended hours. The lake and open rec areas are open dawn to dusk.
