Overnight Summer Camp

Voted the #1 Overnight Camp Experience by parents!

1-WEEK CAMP: completed grades 3 to 10
2-WEEK CAMP: completed grades 6 to 10

Each activity throughout the week provides unique opportunities to encourage campers to become confident and remain grounded and strong when life’s challenges arise.

Campers are in cabin groups by age/grade and biological gender for activities, Bible study, and recreation; then come together for large groups games, worship, and daily speaker session.

Deer Run makes it a priority for camp staff to actively engage each camper and create a fun and safe environment. They listen with understanding and get to know each camper, encourage them, and provide them with positive role models. In fact, many campers are greeted by name year after year by returning counselors.

Campers love the meals at Deer Run, do not want to leave at the end of the week, and want to come back again and again. That’s what makes Deer Run Overnight Camps so awesome!

Session 1: May 29–June 3

Nic Allen

Rolling Hills Community Church, Nashville, TN

After over 20 years spent in church ministry, Nic Allen has seen God move in mighty ways. He first felt called to pursue vocational ministry when he realized there was no better place to use his faith, education, and God-given gifts than the local church. As the Nashville Campus Pastor for Rolling Hills Community Church, what he loves most is seeing transformation in people’s lives. Nothing beats watching someone come alive in Christ.

Outside of work, Nic loves spending time with his three kids—Nora Blake, Lillie Cate, and Simon—and his wife, Susan, whether they’re trying new restaurants, making new DIY projects, or hanging out with their Goldendoodle! (If he wasn’t a pastor, he thinks he may be a Goldendoodle breeder). What may surprise you is that Nic has been skydiving—all for a sermon illustration! He’d highly recommend everyone try it out sometime.

Session 2: June 5–10
Session 3: June 12-17
Session 9: July 18-22

Matt Holmes

Deer Run Camps & Retreats, Family Camp Director

Matt was raised in a small country town in Upstate New York. Thanks to his family-oriented home and years spent at summer camp, he became a witness for Christ by being a true friend to others. While pursuing his Youth Pastorate degree, he met the love of his life, Mindy, the only woman who could handle his craziness.

Matt and Mindy followed God’s call to Colorado where they served in several youth groups and started their family. Three kids and ten years later, they were back in New York, hosting church bonfires and community events on their family farm. Another call from God led their family to seek a ministry opportunity out of their comfort zone. Their love for summer camps ultimately brought them to Deer Run.

Their Deer Run family vacation in March 2021 turned into a summer-long service opportunity, which turned into full-time Family Camp director roles. Since being at Deer Run, Matt has been stretched as a husband, father, and follower of Christ in more ways than he had anticipated. God has proven numerous times over the past year that He loves and desires his family’s life to be kept in His hands no matter where He calls.

Brock Gill, Illusionist, Guest Speaker at Deer Run Events
Session 4: June 19–24

Sam Barnhart

Journey Franklin, Franklin TN

After 10 years working as a church planter in Seattle and Chicago, Sam returned to Franklin, Tennessee in 2015 and re-joined the staff at Journey Church. Before working in full-time pastoral ministry, Sam toured all over the world and released seven albums with his band, Bleach. Now Sam’s primary role at Journey is to oversee the individual care needs of church members. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Kentucky Christian University.

Session 5: June 26-July 1

T. Lusk

Rolling Hills Community Church, Columbia, TN

Originally from Southern Louisiana, T. Lusk is blessed to be the husband of Rebecca, his bride of 17 years, and father to his three kiddos, Cooper, Quinn, and Kate. His family is his greatest blessing outside of God’s gracious restoration and redemption of his life.

God called T. into vocational ministry when he was in ninth grade, and over his past 20 years of ministry he has served in many roles across several states. Before transitioning into his current role as Campus Pastor for Rolling Hills Columbia, T. served as the College & Young Adults Pastor director of Rolling Hills Leadership Pipeline for three years. He also helped lead the Men’s Ministry & Sports “With a Purpose” at Rolling Hills Franklin. T. loves proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, seeing the Lord transform lives, and discipling people so their faith in Christ deepens.

T. enjoys trying out new restaurants with his family, playing an occasional round of golf, watching LSU and the Saints when he can find the games on TV, and eating ice cream from anywhere (and just about any time).

Session 6: July 5-9

Jacob Thomas

Rolling Hills Community Church, Nolensville TN

Jacob Thomas is passionate about many things, but his biggest passion is investing in the next generation. That’s what led him to his current role as the Nolensville Student Director and Leadership Pipeline Associate at Rolling Hills Community Church. He often works with the students at the Nolensville Campus and the young adults at the Nashville and Franklin Campuses.

After graduating from college, Jacob felt the Lord calling him into ministry time and time again. God’s call brought him to the Nashville area where he became a part of the Leadership Pipeline Residency Program. Now, in his current roles, he loves sharing the Gospel with the next generation of leaders and watching them grow in their relationships with Christ.

This Arkansas native is a big Hogs fan, and his favorite sport to watch and play is baseball. He’s also an avid reader (he’s read over 60 books just this year!) and loves all things music, including Bon Iver, concerts, and playing guitar.

Session 7: July 10 -15

Ethan Nieman

Maury County Young Life

Ethan is the Area Director of Young Life in Maury County and a Young Life leader at Columbia Central High School. His favorite part about working for Young Life is meeting high school kids in their current seasons of life, offering them friendship, and sharing with them the hope of the Gospel. He is married to his better half, Abby, and they have one daughter, Evie. Ethan went to high school just down the road at Independence and both he and Abby graduated from the University of Tennessee (GO VOLS)!

In his free time, he enjoys exercising, being outside, and hanging out with Abby and Evie.

Session 8: July 17-22

Kristoff Hart

Crosspoint Franklin, Franklin TN

In a world bent with isolation, filled with anxiety, and led by feelings, we could all use some encouragement. That’s where Kristoff comes in. Kristoff Hart is a pastor, speaker, and creative who loves to encourage people to live a life that is fully known, fully accepted, and fully free—as free as it can be on this side of Heaven.

His approach is warm yet direct, humorous yet vulnerable, and he’s got a knack for meeting people right where they are. He’s happily married to his wife, Makenna, and is a father to two beautiful baby girls. He currently serves as the Next Gen Creative Pastor at Cross Point Church in Franklin, Tennessee.
